Silverpost
Terms of use
Silverpost is run by Stephen Pollard, trading as Silverpost, referred to below as we and us. You can contact us at hello@silverpost.co.uk.
What Silverpost is, and is not
- Silverpost is a checking aid. It uses artificial intelligence to read letters and messages you choose to share with it, and gives an automated opinion in plain words: whether something looks like a scam, what it seems to say, and any dates or amounts it mentions.
- It is a second pair of eyes, not a guarantee. Automated opinions can be wrong, in both directions. A verdict of "looks genuine" means exactly that: it looks genuine to our system. It is not a promise, a warranty, or professional advice.
- Decisions stay with you. Whether to pay, reply, click, call, or ignore anything is always your decision. For anything involving money or personal details, use the contact details from an official bill, an official website you typed in yourself, or the back of your bank card, never contact details taken from a message or letter.
- Silverpost does not provide financial, legal, or medical advice.
Your account and your family circle
- Checks you run are shared with the members of your family circle, along with your first name and the time of the check. Only invite people you trust into your circle, and only check items you are happy for your circle to see.
- You must not use Silverpost for anything unlawful, to check other people's private correspondence without their permission, or to attempt to disrupt the service.
The service
- Silverpost is currently in an early-access period. The service may change, be interrupted, or be withdrawn. Where a free trial or founding-member arrangement applies, its terms are as described at the time of the offer.
- We take care to make Silverpost accurate, including adversarial testing of our scam detection, and safeguards that treat doubt with caution. None of this makes it infallible, and you should not rely on it as your only protection.
Liability
- Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under the law of England and Wales, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
- Subject to that, we are not liable for losses caused by acting on, or declining to act on, an automated verdict; and our total liability to you in any 12 month period is limited to the amount you paid us for Silverpost in that period, which, during the free early-access period, is nil.
- We are not liable for losses that are not a foreseeable result of our breach, including indirect and consequential losses.
General
- We may update these terms. The current version will always be at silverpost.co.uk/terms, with the date above. If a change matters, we will say so in the app or by email.
- Our handling of your personal information is described in our privacy policy.
- These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
